Washing BiPAP Masks


You must always keep your BiPAP Mask clean. On a daily basis, you should use a mild liquid dish soap and water and soak your mask in a sink or bowl. Rinse completely and air dry. Additionally, you should completely disinfect the mask at least once a month. If the mask appears discolored, or you have had any recent illness, you should disinfect even more often. To disinfect your bipap mask, soak it in one part white distilled vinegar to four parts water for half an hour. Rinse thoroughly and air dry.

Your BiPAP tubing will also need to be cleaned weekly, or more often as needed. Just like your BiPAP mask, soak the tubing in dish soap and water and rinse thoroughly. Your tubing should be hung up to completely air-dry, ensuring that all water is properly drained from within. ensure all water is properly drained from within. The shower or bath is a good place to hang the tubing, since the excess water can flow straight into the drain.
As with the mask, your BiPAP tubingshould be disinfected at least once a month and more often, as needed. Disinfect the tubing with one part white distilled vinegar and four parts water. Rinse thoroughly and hang to dry. Masks and tubing should be replaced every three months.

Cleaning BiPAP Machines


Keep the exterior area of the BiPAP machine wiped down to remove dust that can easily build up. As often as once per day, but at least once a week, spray glass cleaner and water on a towel to wipe off the surface of the equipment. Make sure you don’t spray the cleaner directly onto the BiPAP machine, as this might cause damage.

Keeping BiPAP Surroundings Clean


Don't forget to maintain the area around your equipment at all times, by dusting around the machine and removing liquids away from your machine. This will certainly enhance the air high quality and keep your BiPAP machine from clogging up. Avoid picking up your BiPAP machine as a whole if you use a BiPAP humidifier with it. Humidifier’s can easily spill water into the equipment when tipped over. Empty the humidifier in the morning to avoid accidental spillage throughout the day.
